Music Teacher to Västerås City

Västerås City has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection work.

Here, as a music teacher, you have the opportunity to work at a safe and stable school where traditions, music, and community have a natural place. You are responsible for an exciting subject where, through your interest in music and learning, you contribute to engagement, creativity, and joy in music among our students. A warm welcome to us!

Your Responsibilities

The position is a full-time position and includes 50% music teaching. As a music teacher, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating music education for grades 1-6. An important part of the assignment is to contribute to and maintain the school's traditions such as Lucia, school graduations, and other joint events in close collaboration with class teachers.

The remaining 50% of the position can, based on your skills, interests, and the needs of the organization, be allocated to the after-school program or school library. The structure of the position is shaped in dialogue with you, with the music teacher assignment as the foundation.

Your Competence

You are a certified teacher with qualifications to teach music for grades 1-6. We view it positively if you have worked as a music teacher or have experience working with children and youth, for example, from community activities or cultural schools. We also welcome you as a newly graduated teacher and offer mentorship and support in your assignment.

Through an inclusive view of students and a willingness to adapt teaching, you contribute to ensuring that all our students have the opportunity to succeed. You meet students where they are and have the ability to create engagement, a calm working environment, and safe learning environments. Collaboration is a success factor in the role, and you enjoy working together with colleagues, student health, and guardians.

We Offer

With us, you will meet a safe and stable school with about 310 students. The school is located in a quiet area with proximity to forest and nature. As a music teacher, you will have access to a well-equipped music classroom and the opportunity to help develop the school's music profile and traditions. We value professional development, and there is an opportunity to participate in the city's network for music teachers to exchange skills and experiences.

Our operations are characterized by strong value-based work according to KRAMA – camaraderie, respect, responsibility, courage, and a calm working environment. You will become part of a close-knit team of about 16 teachers. We are a cohesive and experienced staff group with a well-functioning student health service. Leadership at the school is close and trust-based; together we drive educational issues and develop each other.
